Dental implants in Beylikdüzü, Istanbul: from examination to final tooth

Dental implant treatment follows five basic steps: examination and CT scan, planning, placing the implant, waiting for it to fuse with the bone, and fitting the final tooth. For a single tooth, the process takes 3 to 6 months for most patients.

1. Examination and 3D CT scan

Implant planning starts with measuring the bone. A panoramic X-ray gives an overview, but the width and height of the bone and its distance from the nerve canal and sinus can only be measured reliably with a 3D cone-beam CT scan.

Gum health, neighbouring teeth, your bite and your general health (medication, diabetes, smoking) are assessed at the same time. Any decay or gum inflammation is treated before the implant.

2. Planning: how many implants, which brand, what kind of tooth?

The implant's diameter, length and angle are planned from the CT data. A single missing tooth is usually replaced with one implant and a crown; several missing teeth with implant-supported bridges; a whole arch with solutions such as All-on-Four.

SituationCommon solution
One missing toothOne implant + zirconia or porcelain crown
Two or three adjacent missing teethBridge on two implants
No teeth in the jawFixed bridge on 4–6 implants or an implant-retained denture
Insufficient boneImplant after bone graft or sinus lift

For full-arch options, see our All-on-Four guide and our article on implant-supported dentures.

3. Placing the implant

The procedure is done under local anaesthetic. The gum is opened, a site is prepared in the bone and the implant is placed; the area is then stitched or a healing cap is fitted. A single implant usually takes 30–60 minutes.

Most patients feel pressure rather than pain. Mild swelling and tenderness for a few days are normal. We explain what to do afterwards in our implant aftercare guide.

4. Fusing with the bone (osseointegration)

The implant takes about 2–3 months to fuse in the lower jaw and 3–6 months in the upper jaw. A temporary tooth can be worn in visible areas during this time, so you're not left with a gap.

In some suitable cases the implant can be placed in the same visit as the extraction (immediate implant), with a temporary tooth on the same day. We cover when this is possible in how long implant treatment takes.

5. Impressions, final tooth and check-ups

Once the implant has fused, an impression is taken (digital scan or conventional) and the final tooth is made. After a try-in, the crown or bridge is fixed to the implant. A few check-ups follow in the first year, then an examination and professional clean every six months.

Questions to ask before getting an implant

  • Which implant brand will be used, and will spare parts still be available years from now?
  • Is there enough bone, or will a graft or sinus lift be needed?
  • What material will the tooth on top be made of?
  • Will I have a temporary tooth while the implant heals?
  • What will the follow-up schedule be?

At Dent32 we plan implant treatment with an examination and CT scan and give you the plan in writing. See our implant treatment section or book an appointment. If you're travelling from abroad, our planning guide explains how to organise visits.

Frequently asked questions

How long does implant treatment take in Istanbul?

With healthy, sufficient bone, a single implant is usually completed in 3–4 months. If a bone graft or sinus lift is needed, it can take 6–9 months overall.

Am I put to sleep for implant surgery?

Most implants are placed under local anaesthetic without sedation. If many implants are planned or you're very anxious, sedation options can be discussed.

Can I go back to work after an implant?

After a single implant most patients return to normal activities the next day. After more extensive surgery a few days' rest may be advised.

Can I have implants if I've lost bone?

In most cases, yes. If bone volume is insufficient, a bone graft or sinus lift can prepare the site; in some cases short or angled implants avoid the need for extra surgery.
