Travelling to Istanbul for dental treatment: a planning guide
If you are thinking of coming to Istanbul from abroad for dental treatment, the most important step is to settle the treatment plan and length of stay before you book a flight.

What should I send before I come?
The more detailed the preliminary assessment, the more realistic the plan. You can send the following via WhatsApp:
- A panoramic X-ray taken within the last 6 months (and a CT scan if you have one)
- Clear photos of your teeth from the front, the side and while smiling
- Any medication you take and chronic conditions
- Your expectations: what you want to change and what bothers you
With this, the dentist prepares a preliminary plan. The final plan can only be confirmed after an examination and imaging at the clinic — it's important to know this before you travel.
How long will I need to stay?
The length of stay varies a lot by treatment. The figures below are general ranges:
| Treatment | First visit | Second visit |
|---|---|---|
| Zirconia / veneers | About 5–7 days | Usually not needed |
| Implants (final teeth later) | 2–5 days | After 3–6 months, about 5–7 days |
| All-on-Four | About 5–7 days (temporary fixed teeth) | After 3–6 months, for the final prosthesis |
| Teeth whitening | 1–2 days | Not needed |
| Clear aligners | 1–3 days to start | Remote follow-up + periodic check-ups |
How should I plan the trip?
Dent32 is in Beylikdüzü, on the European side of Istanbul. Staying on the European side makes clinic visits easier; Istanbul Airport is closer to this area than Sabiha Gökçen.
- If you are having surgery, don't plan a busy sightseeing day for the same day.
- Ask your dentist about flight timing after implant surgery or extractions.
- Alcohol and smoking slow healing on treatment days.
- Bring any medication you take regularly.
How does follow-up work once I'm home?
Your X-rays and records are given to you after treatment, so your dentist at home can see what was done. During healing, you can reach your dentist via WhatsApp by sending photos with your questions.
In the long run, most of the success depends on maintenance. A check-up and professional cleaning at least once a year should not be skipped, wherever it is done.
How should I compare quotes?
Comparing quotes from different clinics on the total figure alone can be misleading. Ask these questions:
| Topic | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Materials | Which implant brand, and which type of zirconia or porcelain, will be used? |
| Scope | Are X-rays, CT scans, temporary teeth and check-ups included? |
| Number of teeth | Which teeth does the plan cover, and why? |
| Alternatives | Is there a less invasive option? |
Frequently asked questions
Can I communicate in English?
Yes. You can communicate in English during the preliminary assessment and appointment process.
Can I get a firm price from photos?
Photos and X-rays allow preliminary information; the final plan and cost are confirmed after the examination at the clinic.
Can I have the implant and the final tooth in the same visit?
In most cases, no. The implant needs a few months to integrate with the bone. In some cases temporary fixed teeth can be fitted.
How far in advance should I book?
Complete the preliminary assessment before booking flights, then agree dates with the clinic so treatment days fit your trip.
What if there's a problem after treatment?
Send photos and a description via WhatsApp. The dentist will assess the situation and advise you.
