Teeth whitening in Beylikdüzü: one session in the clinic or trays at home?

Teeth whitening lightens tooth colour with peroxide gels under a dentist's supervision, either in a single session of about an hour in the clinic or with custom trays at home over 1–2 weeks. Depending on habits, results usually last 1–3 years.

Who is it for?

Whitening works well on natural teeth yellowed by tea, coffee, smoking or age. Results can be more limited for antibiotic (tetracycline) or fluorosis staining; in those cases options such as veneers or bonding are discussed.

For some patients we combine the two: starting in the clinic and maintaining the result with home trays, or topping up over the years. See teeth whitening: clinic or home? for general information.

What happens before whitening?

  • Examination: Decay, leaking filling edges or gum recession are treated first; otherwise sensitivity increases.
  • Scale and polish: Whitening over tartar and surface stains gives uneven results. Professional cleaning is usually done a few days before.
  • Shade record: Your starting shade is recorded so you can compare the result.

Aftercare

Teeth pick up colour more easily for the first 24–48 hours. During this time we recommend avoiding tea, coffee, cola, red wine, dark sauces and smoking. A toothpaste for sensitive teeth helps with temporary sensitivity.

How long the result lasts depends largely on habits. Regular cleaning and short home top-ups when needed keep the colour for a long time.

Who isn't it suitable for?

  • Pregnant and breastfeeding women
  • Teenagers whose teeth haven't finished developing (generally under 16–18)
  • People with untreated decay or active gum disease
  • People with severe sensitivity due to marked gum recession and exposed roots

Frequently asked questions

Does whitening damage enamel?

Whitening done under a dentist's supervision at the right strength doesn't permanently damage enamel. The risk lies mostly with overusing unsupervised products bought online.

How many shades lighter will my teeth get?

It depends on the starting shade and type of staining. Promising an exact shade in advance isn't honest; we record your shade together at the start.

Does whitening hurt?

No pain is expected during treatment. Some patients get brief, sharp twinges for 1–2 days afterwards that usually settle on their own.

Will my crowns whiten too?

No. Crowns, veneers and fillings don't whiten. If they're visible, they may need replacing to match the new shade.

How often can it be repeated?

For most patients the first result lasts for years. Short top-ups with home trays can be done if needed; frequent in-clinic sessions aren't recommended.
