How to tell a dental practice in Türkiye is properly licensed: 8 checks before your first visit in Beylikdüzü
In Türkiye, private dental surgeries, polyclinics and oral health centres open under a licence issued under Ministry of Health regulations and are inspected by the provincial health directorates. In a licensed practice it is clear which dentist treats you and under what title, how procedures are recorded and whom to contact if there is a problem. You can run the eight checks below before or during your first visit to a dental practice in Beylikdüzü or anywhere else.

Surgery, polyclinic, centre: what the name on the sign tells you
Private dental practices are classified by type: a surgery (muayenehane) opened by a single dentist in their own name, a polyclinic where several dentists can work, a larger oral and dental health centre, and a hospital with beds. The official name often includes the type, for example “… Ağız ve Diş Sağlığı Polikliniği” (oral and dental health polyclinic). In everyday Turkish they are all called “diş kliniği” (dental clinic).
That's why searches for a dental clinic and a dental polyclinic in Beylikdüzü usually show the same places. We explain the differences in dental polyclinic, clinic or surgery.
8 checks before and during your first visit
- Official name and address: Do the sign, website, Google listing and invoice show the same name and address? A mismatch isn't always a problem, but it's worth asking.
- Licence and responsible dentist: Polyclinics and centres have a responsible manager dentist (mesul müdür). You are entitled to ask about the type of practice and who is responsible.
- Name and title of the dentist treating you: Specialist titles may only be used by dentists who have completed specialist training. Phrases such as “implant expert” or “smile specialist” based on a course or certificate are not an official specialty.
- Examination and imaging: A plan should follow a clinical examination and, where needed, X-rays or a CT scan, and the findings should be shown to you. See dental X-rays and CT scans.
- Written plan: Options, number of visits and cost should be given in writing. See written treatment plan.
- Consent: Before any invasive procedure the risks and alternatives should be explained and your consent obtained. See consent forms and patient rights.
- Sterilisation: Instruments in sealed pouches and single-use items opened in front of you. See sterilisation in a dental clinic.
- Invoice and records: You should receive an invoice for every payment, and procedures should be recorded. You can ask for a copy of your X-rays.
The way a practice promotes itself is a clue too
Türkiye's health promotion regulation, in force since 12 November 2025, bans advertising by healthcare providers. Price, discount or campaign announcements, superiority claims such as “the best”, promotion through patients' thanks and certificate-based “specialist” titles all fall under it. Non-compliant promotion doesn't by itself mean poor treatment, but it says something about how carefully a practice follows the rules. Details: dental advertising rules in Türkiye.
Where to go with a question or complaint
- The practice itself first: talking to the treating or responsible dentist resolves most problems.
- For complaints about healthcare providers, the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate and the Ministry of Health communication centre (SABİM, ALO 184).
- For matters of professional ethics, the regional chamber of dentists.
- For disputes about fees, the consumer arbitration committees.

Frequently asked questions
Is a dental clinic the same as a dental polyclinic?
In everyday language, yes. Officially a polyclinic is a type of licensed oral and dental health practice where several dentists can work; “dental clinic” is a general term.
What does “implant specialist” mean in Türkiye?
There is no official dental specialty called implantology. The specialties are oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral and maxillofacial radiology, paediatric dentistry, endodontics, orthodontics, periodontology, prosthodontics and restorative dentistry. Implants can be placed by dentists trained to do so.
Where can I find a dentist's title?
Ask the practice and the dentist directly; the practice website and sign should show each dentist's name and title. If a specialist title is used, it's reasonable to ask in which specialty.
