A written dental treatment plan: what you take home after your examination at Dent32

Dent32 founder Dr. Hüseyin Aşçı's approach rests on a simple principle: patients should know what will be done, and why, before anything starts. That is why, at our clinic in Beylikdüzü, every plan is shared in writing together with the examination findings, the options, possible risks and the cost.

Why does a written plan matter?

  • What you hear in the chair is easily forgotten by the time you get home.
  • You may want to decide together with your partner or family.
  • Clinics can only really be compared through written plans (how to weigh a second opinion).
  • You can plan your budget and the timing of treatment in advance.
  • If something has to change during treatment, it is clear what changed and why.

What should a good treatment plan include?

SectionContents

Options for a single missing tooth are covered in a single missing tooth, and what drives cost in dental treatment prices.

How to read the tooth numbers in your plan

Plans usually refer to teeth with two-digit numbers (the FDI system). The first digit gives the quarter of the mouth, the second the position of the tooth. Sides are from the patient's point of view:

  • 1: upper right, 2: upper left, 3: lower left, 4: lower right.
  • The second digit counts back from the midline: 1 is the central incisor, 3 the canine, 6 the first molar, 8 the wisdom tooth.
  • Examples: 11 upper right front tooth, 36 lower left first molar, 48 lower right wisdom tooth.

How Dent32 shares the plan

After the examination and any imaging needed, we go through the findings together on screen. We then explain the suitable options with their pros, risks and cost, and give them to you in writing. You can take the plan home, think it over, talk to your family and send us questions later. If something needs to change during treatment, for example a tooth planned for a filling turns out to need root canal treatment, we explain why and update the plan.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to start treatment once I have a plan?

No. You can take the plan away, think about it, show it to another dentist and decide later.

Can the plan change during treatment?

Yes. For example, if decay is found to have reached the nerve during a filling, root canal treatment may be needed. If so, the reason is explained and the plan updated.

Can I show the plan to another dentist?

Of course. A second opinion is a sensible step, especially for extensive treatment.
